After the group announced in the summer that it planned to close the Diósgyőr site at the end of the year, the transaction now agreed with the Vimpex Group will secure the continuation of confectionery production at the site. The Diósgyőr plant employs 220 people. Under the agreement, the Vimpex Group will take over at least one third of the workforce.
The Vimpex Group has committed to continuing operations from the beginning of next year. Nestlé had previously attributed the discontinuation of chocolate hollow figure production to declining demand.
Nestlé has been present in Hungary for 35 years and has invested nearly HUF 400 billion (EUR 1 billion) from its own funds during this period. This makes the company the largest Swiss investor and employer in Hungary.
