Electrobus Europe Zrt., part of the Ikarus Group, has won the tender announced earlier this year by the Ministry of Transport of North Macedonia for the procurement of 150 fully electric city buses.
The company has secured the right to supply a total of 150 fully electric Ikarus 120e V4 city buses, along with 75 plug-in charging stations required for their operation. This represents the biggest business success in the history of Ikarus in the field of battery-powered electric buses.
As part of the tender, regarded as one of the most significant electric bus procurements in the Balkan region this year, 100 new e-buses will strengthen public transportation in the North Macedonian capital Skopje, while the remaining 50 vehicles will be delivered to other cities across the country.
Expansion into Balkan markets currently plays a key role in Ikarus’ international sales strategy. Recent test drives in Serbia and Slovenia, as well as sales in Greece, are also part of this strategy, and there is reportedly strong interest in the company’s products from Bosnia and Herzegovina as well.
