Energy consumption down in Hungary

Hungary's gas consumption fell by 11% to 8.5 billion cubic meters in 2023, while electricity consumption fell by 4.5% to 41 terawatt-hours.
Compared to 2021, gas consumption fell by almost a quarter. According to the Ministry of Energy, the country's dependence on imports is decreasing and security of supply is improving.
Households consumed 3 billion cubic meters of gas and the economy consumed 5.5 billion cubic meters - demand fell equally in both categories.
