A battery energy storage plant with a capacity of 47 MW is being built on the site of the Oroszlány power plant. The total investment volume amounts to HUF 12.5 billion (approx. EUR 35 million). The project, expected to be completed by summer, is being implemented with subsidies of HUF 5 billion (EUR 14 million) from the EU Recovery Fund.
The technical foundation consists of 40 standard containers, each equipped with 1,500 lithium battery cells from China. An inverter manufactured in Germany by SMA coordinates the overall system. When fully charged, the facility can supply 47 MW of power for three hours.
The batteries have a guaranteed lifespan of 15 years. The plant’s total capacity amounts to 135 MWh with an efficiency rate of 88%. Operational management will be handled by the Oroszlány power plant of the Veolia Group.
The investment is being carried out by two project companies of NAP Nyrt., together with ÉP-CAR-NET Kft. and Helionergy Kft..
