Gross average salaries in four professional groups have now exceeded HUF 1 million (EUR 2,700) per month.
In addition to the finance, ICT, and energy sectors, scientists, engineers, lawyers, PR professionals, and other specialists have now joined this group. According to the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH), their average salary rose within one year from HUF 965,000 to HUF 1.08 million (approx. EUR 3,000) gross per month. Energy and IT specialists earn nearly HUF 1.3 million (EUR 3,500), while employees in banking and insurance receive gross salaries of HUF 1.365 million (EUR 3,700).
In March 2026, gross wages increased by 9.2% year-on-year, while net wages rose by 11.3%. Due to the still very low inflation rate, real wages increased by 9.3%. The median salary climbed by 13% to a net HUF 430,000 (approx. EUR 1,200).
