Dogus Cay – Potato chips factory

May 25, 2026

The Turkish company Dogus Cay is building a potato chips factory in Orosháza. The project will create 440 new jobs and involves an investment of HUF 42 billion (approx. EUR 115 million). The previous government had already pledged subsidies amounting to HUF 8.3 billion (EUR 22.7 million).

For this purpose, the Hungarian subsidiary Karakan Foods Hungary Kft. was established. The factory is being built on the site of the former glass manufacturer Guardian. This will become Dogus Cay’s first production facility outside Turkey.

The plant is expected to process 200,000 tons of potatoes and 50,000 tons of corn annually in Orosháza. Production of potato chips and corn-based tortillas made from regional raw materials is scheduled to begin in 2027, followed later by iced tea production. By 2029, the company also plans to construct another factory hall for processing additional food products.
