As a new company within the Szatmári Group, Terra Danubia Kft. started tile production in July at the former Zalakerámia plant in Tófej.
The move not only preserves valuable know-how but is also expected to provide fresh momentum for the building materials industry in Zala County.
As part of the acquisition, the Tófej plant, the Romhány site, as well as the associated production facilities and inventories were transferred to Terra Danubia Kft.
Founded in February with share capital of HUF 450 million (EUR 1.2 million), Terra Danubia Kft. plans to build a modern, competitive ceramic manufacturing facility at the Tófej site. The company will draw on nearly a century of accumulated expertise and manufacturing tradition. Zalakerámia was for decades the best-known player in Hungary’s ceramic and tile manufacturing industry.
