Passenger services on the Budapest–Belgrade railway line could start this autumn, provided that the final safety inspections of the Hungarian section are successfully completed.
After August 24, a test run will take place between Belgrade and Budapest in both directions. The border crossing will also be monitored during the test. In parallel with the safety inspections, the Hungarian and Serbian railway companies are working on preparing the timetable.
Construction of the infrastructure of the Budapest–Belgrade railway line in Hungary has been completed, and freight trains are already operating on the route. The ETCS Level 2 train control system, which will enable passenger trains to travel at speeds of 160 km/h, is currently being finalized. The Chinese supplier of the system announced a few days ago that the equipment is ready.
