Singapore-based Vulcan Shield Global (VSG) has launched test production in Békéscsaba using 60 machines. The company is currently operating from leased production facilities while preparations for its first factory are already underway.
Backed by Chinese capital, VSG is regarded as a global leader in advanced ceramic and aluminum fiber products capable of withstanding temperatures of up to 1,600°C.
The company plans to invest a total of EUR 700 million in Békéscsaba by 2033 through three development phases. The project envisions annual production capacities of 10,000 tonnes and the creation of 2,500 jobs.
For the foreseeable future, the raw materials required for fiber production will continue to be imported from China. At a later stage, VSG plans to establish a local chemical plant to produce these materials in Hungary.
The company has already established cooperation agreements with the Békéscsaba Vocational Training Center and the University of Szeged, as it expects to require a predominantly engineering-focused workforce in the medium term.
