Electromobility – Intensive infrastructure expansion

According to the latest electromobility report by the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority (MEKH), Hungary had 4,227 licensed charging stations for electric vehicles in operation by the end of 2025.

Charging infrastructure for electric vehicles expanded intensively during 2025. Compared to the end of 2024, more than 1,000 additional charging points entered operation, bringing the total to 3,191. Alongside the increase in the number of licensed charging devices, quarterly energy consumption for charging also rose to 12,630 MWh.

Most charging stations remained concentrated in the capital, with 1,462 units, followed by Pest County (510), Hajdú-Bihar County (415), Veszprém County (210), and Nógrád County (31).

By distribution area, the highest number of charging devices — 1,922 units — operated within the network of ELMŰ Hálózati Kft., followed by E.ON Észak-dunántúli Áramhálózati Zrt. with 702 units and OPUS TITÁSZ Áramhálózati Zrt. with 590 units.
